Libra ~ Venus, Self-love, Healthy Relationships and How it is All Connected

Today August 5th, the Moon is currently in Libra. This sign is associated with peace, harmony, beautiful surroundings, relationships, marriage as well as creativity. Libra is symbolic for the act of mediation and the ability to see the perspective of another.

Growing up I’ve seen many different types of relationships, as we all do. I’ve observed healthy connections, toxic relationships, and types that don’t fully fall into either one of these extremes. Something I’ve been able to put in perspective is that a relationship occurs when two worlds collide, two separate entities join together to create something completely different altogether. A union of two energies. Each world is it’s own unique universe with individual inner workings. Sometimes the lines between one’s inner world and someone else’s gets blurred, and this is where projection and disharmony takes place.

Libra is ruled by versatile Venus, the planet that governs over two signs, Taurus and Libra. This planet is also symbolic for the part of all of us that requires self-love, self-esteem, and to feel connected to one’s own physical body and heart center. Taurus in the zodiac comes before Libra, giving insight into the idea that the love of self proceeds the ability to truly connect and love another (Libra, the 7th sign of the zodiac). This here leads me to the topic of this post today— self-love, healthy relationships and how it is all connected.

Value of one’s self must be established first and foremost because of the foundational development of the self that depends on it. The sign of Taurus is fixed in modality, and earth in element— this expression of Venus is best interpreted as everything that sustains us in living happily and healthily, it is the foundation off which we build our lives. What you find to be valuable is what you choose to commit to. What you personally feel is beautiful is what you will be attracted you. Essentially, the Taurus part of Venus is about what you think is meaningful, your own personal values and how you choose to build your life around them.

If these personal values are not established prior to creating a union, how would one know how to do their part in making the relationship harmonious? Inward stability is created with acts of self-love and self-care. Staying true to one’s own personal value system is essential in creating a life of alignment. Alignment within oneself precedes a synergistic union with other, no matter what type of union, being a friend, intimate relationship, family member, etc.

In this Moon in Libra let us ponder what I’ve said here. Connection is something we all desire, so why not start with you? Connect with your own body, your own heart chakra by affirming your love for yourself and acting upon it. Loving oneself means acting on what is right for you. Self-esteem is developed through knowing what we are worthy of. The degree of the health in your relationship with yourself determines how you will connect with others.

Desire intimacy? Get really close with yourself. Ask yourself questions. Take all the time necessary to restore your own connection to YOU and watch your relationship with others transform. You determine what you allow based on the decisions you make. The inner world precedes the outer experience.

We all have the ability to evolve and by taking steps to do so, we do much more than just personally develop. We set the stage for others to follow an example of alignment with self. There is no power in trying to change others. There is only power in our ability to change ourselves and improve the relationship we have to our own inner being.
