It is the Spirit of God at work

By

"For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him."
Philippians 2:13

Apart from Him we can do nothing, John 15:5. It is God who began a work in us when we first believed. It is He who will bring it to completion, Philippians 1:6. It is only Jesus who has the power to deliver and save, to transform, renew and redeem. He is the true Vine, we are but branches. In this secure place of constant utter dependence on Him as our source of life, wisdom, guidance, truth, and provision of all things, we are sustained and firmly established.

Throughout the word we are told to wait on the Lord continually. To wait with a heart of hopeful expectation, for God is always working. Abiding in Him is letting His word dwell in us richly. It is meditating on His promises, having them ready in our arsenal as a weapon against the lies of the enemy. It is standing firm in faith when the winds and waves of trials and temptations come our way. When we are worn down, we are tired, it is waiting on the Lord that will renew our strength.

Blessed are the poor in spirit— those acutely aware of their desperate need for their Savior— for theirs is the Kingdom of God, Matthew 5:3. Blessed are the needy in spirit, who look to the One from which their help comes from. Favored are the ones whose wisdom, knowledge and understanding come from reverent fear of Alpha and Omega, the very God who created it all. Blessed are the hungry, the humble, the contrite in spirit, for they will know God intimately. This heart posture of lowly desperation may look pathetic to a world that glorifies self exultation, but in the eyes of God, He sees wisdom. He sees His precious child in whom He is well pleased. He sees His Son Jesus in us.

The Holy Spirit of the Lord is at work always, tending to our hearts, molding us as a Potter does clay. Our role is to submit unto the Lord with all we are— mind, heart, body, soul and strength— to fully trust in Him and obey in His leading in all things. Picking up our cross and dying to ourselves daily. This is a reminder today, you need only be still and know He is God. He is able to do exceedingly above all we can ask, think or imagine. It is the Spirit of God at work in and through us.
